Our first-grade students recently took part in a delightful and educational activity that combined creativity, presentation skills, and a love for food! Every student was tasked with researching preparing a traditional Honduran dish. The initiative ended in a “Traditional Foods Presentation” in which the children not only shared what they had learned, but also had the opportunity to try the various meals with their classmates and teachers.

The students practiced important skills like public speaking, research, and teamwork. They explain the process of their selected dish and share the ingredients they used to prepare the food.
After all the presentations were complete, it was time for the most exciting part of the day—tasting the traditional foods! With plates of food carefully prepared by the students and their families. There were sweet treats, hearty meals, and refreshing drinks to sample.

The children eagerly tasted everything and the smiles on their faces said it all! Teachers joined in the fun, trying foods and sharing in the joy of the experience. It was a wonderful way for everyone to connect through food, as the students celebrated their own traditions with everyone.

We would like to extend a big thank you to all the families who helped their children with this project, and to the teachers for organizing such a fun and meaningful event. It was a day full of learning, laughter, and of course, delicious food!
We can’t wait to see what our first graders will explore next!
