Our school had a genuinely amazing event called Startup Day, which was organized by two of our own eleventh grade students. The program brought together students from five area schools for a full day of learning, cooperation, and hands-on creating. What’s the goal? To immerse themselves in the world of entrepreneurship and innovation, learning firsthand what it takes to bring an idea to reality.

Each participating school sent five delegates, resulting in a dynamic and diverse collection of young minds eager to learn. The kids were divided into teams, with each team made up of students from several schools, resulting in a unique blend of ideas and viewpoints.

The students were more than just audience members at this event. They were at the core of the day, participating in plenty of hands-on activities that required them to develop, create, and pitch their own startup concepts. Each team was given a mentor who helped them understand the process and provided guidance as they engaged on their projects.

Students got to experience what a startup culture is. With limited time, they all collaborated to bring an idea, create a prototype, and prepare a pitch. They faced real-world challenges such as tight deadlines and the pressure of having to give a presentation in front of many people, but nevertheless they handled everything with passion and dedication.

Each group came up with unique ideas that show not only their originality but also their growing awareness of how businesses work and what a startup is. Whether it was a technological solution, a renewable resource, or a social project, the ideas were unique and exciting.

Startup Day was a success thanks to the tireless efforts and commitment of our eleventh-graders organizers. They prepared an event that not only taught us the worth of creativity and teamwork, but also encouraged the desire to succeed in each of us.
