I am Cinthia Maria Benavides Andino, and I received all my education from the El Alba Bilingual Primary and Secondary School until my high school graduation in 2013.  With El Alba, I had the opportunity to represent Siguatepeque in ABSH (Association of Bilingual Schools of Honduras) activities, including the Model United Nations and the Math Olympics which were very memorable experiences in that in these I could test my capabilities in specific fields and could see how good our school was when compared to other prestigious schools in the country.

One very valuable gain I got from El Alba is responsibility, a characteristic required everywhere we go.  Among the lessons we learned was to always pursue our dreams because we are capable of achieving whatever we set out to accomplish.

One of my best teachers, who is also my father, is Mr. Augustin Benavides, who was a huge influence on me in many ways.  He made difficult classes, like Mathematics and Physics, fun by maintaining a friendly atmosphere and interjecting jokes to lighten the struggle.  His advice for successful living had a positive influence on my outlook and dedication.  He convinced me that I could achieve anything I wanted in life providing I was willing to invest the time and effort.  He pointed out that the road is not easy and that it takes a lot of effort and hard work, but when you achieve your goals, you realize that everything was worth it.  Thank you, Dad, for being not only my father but for being such a good teacher as well.

Following graduation from El Alba, I decided to pursue the field of medicine, one of the most beautiful and caring careers.  Since I was a little girl, I dreamed of becoming a doctor, and it was my belief that I could “do anything” that made the dream become reality -and I have become quite successful in my area.  Currently, I am in Germany, pursuing further studies in my specialty of pediatric surgery.

My future plans include completing my studies in Germany and I look forward to when I shall become a Pediatric Surgeon.
