The long awaited seventh edition of the Geographic Tournament, a competition organized by the committed Teacher Gerson Velásquez, was held. This event, already a school tradition, brought together seventh and eighth grade students in a unique experience where knowledge, excitement and competitive spirit came together to mentally traverse the maps of Honduras and the American continent.
📚 How does the tournament work?
Students compete by sections within their grade, demonstrating how much they have learned about geography throughout the year. The tournament structure is carefully designed to challenge different levels of knowledge through three rounds:
🇭🇳 Seventh Grade: Getting to Know Our Honduras
- Round 1 (Beginner): Students must correctly locate departments and their capitals.
- Round 2 (Intermediate): The challenge goes up a level, identifying ethnicities, rivers, lakes, and other geographical aspects of the country.
- Round 3 (Expert): Through fun facts about Honduras, participants must identify the region or area where those facts take place – a mix of culture, history and geography!

🌎 Eighth Grade: Exploring America
- Round 1 (Beginner): Location of countries and capitals of the Americas.
- Round 2 (Intermediate): Knowledge of rivers, mountains, climates, natural regions and more of the continent is challenged.
- Round 3 (Expert): Students must relate curious and cultural facts to the corresponding countries or regions. Did you know that there is a river in the Americas that boils naturally? They did.

🏆 The Great Unraveling
At the end of the day, the section that wins the most rounds takes the victory. But beyond the results, what really matters is the excitement at every stage of the tournament.
This game not only tests students’ knowledge, but also encourages teamwork, mental quickness and a passion for geography. It is a dynamic and fun way to demonstrate all that has been learned in class.

🎉 A Feast of Knowledge
Seeing the kids so engaged, enjoying themselves while learning and competing healthily, is undoubtedly one of the greatest achievements of the tournament. They prepare in advance, rehearse in class and at home, and arrive on the day of the event with energy and enthusiasm.
Thanks to the leadership of Mr. Gerson Velasquez, this tournament continues to be an activity that inspires and educates, leaving a memorable mark on all participants.
