Our institution was transformed into a true stage of time, thanks to the celebration of unforgettable Historic Gatherings. Divided into three thematic groups: The Pre-Hispanic era, colonial era and independent era. Students and teachers offered a multi-sensory experience that allowed us to travel through the most representative moments of Honduran history.

Pre-Hispanic Era: The Legacy of Our Ancestors

This group transported us to times before the arrival of the Spaniards, when indigenous cultures such as the Maya and Lenca flourished. The setting included replicas of stelae, ceramics, handmade textiles and even a small recreation of an ancestral home. They dramatized and represented sacred rituals, indigenous markets and scenes of daily Mayan life. They wore traditional costumes with natural fabrics, feather headdresses and facial paintings. They offered delicious dishes such as atoles, corn tamales and drinks such as pinol.

Colonial Period: The Spanish Legacy

The second group revived the colonial period, marked by the arrival of the Spaniards and the cultural fusion that gave rise to a new identity. They wore long dresses with lace, soldiers’ costumes and religious attire. Attendees tasted typical dishes such as rosquillas, pan de yema, dulce de leche, and café de olla.

Independent Period: The Birth of the Nation

The last group addressed the events that led to the independence of Honduras in 1821 and the first years of life as a nation. Each member became an important character of this era and spoke to us in first person about their lives, which was a plus. They wore period costumes with hats, vests and formal pants. The menu included Creole dishes such as montucas and horchata.

An Educational and Cultural Experience

The Historical Gatherings were not only a creative way to learn about the past, but also an opportunity to value our roots and understand the evolution of the Honduran identity. Through dramatizations, traditional costumes and typical gastronomy, this activity demonstrated that history can be experienced with all the senses.

Congratulations to all participants for their commitment, creativity and love for Honduras!
