This week in our 4th-grade classroom, learning about nutrition took a fun and creative turn! As part of our health and science unit on food groups, each student was tasked with creating their own Food Group Pyramid model. The results? Absolutely amazing!

Every single project was unique. Some students used paper and cardboard, while others got extra inventive—using recycled cartons, plastic containers, and even toy food to build their pyramids. The creativity was off the charts! From mini grocery store displays to colorful poster-style pyramids, each model showed just how much thought and effort went into the project.

Once the pyramids were ready, students took turns presenting their models to the class. They explained each food group, where it belongs on the pyramid, and why it’s important for a balanced diet. Not only did they get to share their hard work, but they also practiced public speaking and learned from each other’s ideas.

What makes this activity so valuable is how it helps the students remember important concepts through hands-on learning. Instead of just reading from a book, they’re engaging with the material in a way that’s memorable, meaningful, and fun.

We’re so proud of their effort and imagination! Learning about healthy eating has never looked so good. 🍓👏
